Estelle Bourdet (*1990) lives and works in Sweden. She obtained her Bachelor in Fine Arts from Ecole Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne (ECAL) in Switzerland. Her diploma installation « Tendinitis » displayed several pieces inspired by the traditional swedish Ragrugs made of plain weaving, a technique she further developed in the textile design department at the Luzerner Hochschule - Design und Kunst, along with acquiring new textile related technics, such as screenprint, embroidery, weaving and knitting. She now pursues this education at Capellagården - Skola för gestaltande arbete in Sweden, one of her countries of origin. Therefore, the traditional Swedish weaving process influences Estelle’s work on a both personal and artistic level. It merges common themes central to her artistic practice, such as domestic zones, interiors and inhabited spaces and the way these spaces determine manners or unconscious gestures of common-day life, which she is keen on deconstructing and retranscribing into graphics or installations.
